Final Four Decided In Exciting Fashion
The matchups in the Elite Eight have recently concluded. Just like the rest of the current tournament, the games were exciting and down the wire. The games between the best basketball teams in the country showed what they’ve got and fought a hard-fought battle to enter into the Final Four. And here are the results of the games and know which teams gained entry into the NCAA Div I Men’s Basketball Final Four.
Florida Beats Dayton
The Florida Gators was the first team to book a Final Four ticket. The powerhouse team beat the only remaining Cinderella team in the tournament, the Dayton Flyers. The final score was 62-52. The Gators have now reached their fifth Final Four. They wish to change their luck this time as they eventually lost in their previous three Final Four appearances. It seems that the advantage is on their court right now. They are considered as the overall No.1 seed in the tournament and expected to win the title. But as the previous games show, there are some surprising upsets that might happen.
Wisconsin Defeats Arizona
The Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Arizona Wildcats in an exciting game that took an extra period to decide. It was a tough game all throughout as it was a back and forth affair in the first 40 minutes in regulation. Both teams made it a close game. One team did not lead by more than three points throughout the game. It was a tightly fought game until the fourth quarter buzzer rang, with the score tied 54 all. The Badgers eventually outscored the Wildcats in the extra session and came out as victors on OT, 64-63. This is the first Final Four appearance for the Badgers since 2000. The overtime game was also the seventh in the tournament, tying the record for the most OT games during the entire March Madness.
Kentucky Wins Against Michigan
Kentucky versus Michigan was a thrilling match up that went down the wire. It was also an upset of sorts as the eighth seed Wildcats defeated the Wolverines, the team expected by many to win the championship. However, the game was too close for comfort as the Kentucky boys tried their best to make it a hard-fought battle. And they did until the final seconds of the game. The Wildcats won the game on an incredible shot in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter, a three pointer from NBA range, made by 6-foot-6 forward Aaron Harrison. Final score was 75-72. What made the game quite a significant accomplishment for Kentucky is that it used an all-freshmen lineup throughout the tournament.
Connecticut Defeats Michigan State
In another exciting game, the UConn Huskies defeated the Michigan State Spartans. The Huskies were not favored to even reach this stage of the tournament due to the issues its basketball program faced. From the retirement of their coach to issues regarding NCAA regulations, the team took it all in stride. And they have to face the mighty Michigan State to get to the Final Four. But that did not deter the Huskies. So they did what they do best, play great basketball. They proved many people wrong by getting into the Final Four defeating a team seeded higher than them. The Huskies did it with grit and determination to get into the Final Four on a score of 60-54.
