It is official, this year’s March Madness has been a year of upsets. In the Final Four, it once again showed. Two exciting games to decide who will play for the NCAA Championship are already done. And the outcome was not predicted- a seventh seed will be playing an eighth seed team with all-freshmen starters. It is UConn versus Kentucky in this year’s NCAA finals.

In the ultimate upset of the tournament so far, the seventh seed University of Connecticut Huskies defeated the top seed of the tournament and favored to win it all, the Florida Gators. But like any other game, no one can be too sure of anything. This matchup proved it once again.

The Huskies overcame a bad start with a 16-4 score by playing inspiring basketball to get the lead by halftime 25-22. The Huskies played an efficient game at both ends of the court, doing its job with team defense and performing well offensively to overcome Florida’s trapping defense and zone. In the end, it is the Huskies besting the Gators to the final score of 63-53.

The other Final Four game was even more exciting.  It came down to the last seconds once again for the University of Kentucky Wildcats to win it. It took another brave three point shot to win the game. And guess what, the same player who delivered for the Wildcats in that game against Michigan delivered once again in the same fashion.

Wildcat Aaron Harrison spotted up for a three and watch it go in with 5.7 seconds to go in the game and giving Kentucky the lead against the Wisconsin Badgers 74-73, the final score. The Badgers still had a chance to take the last shot. But the desperation jumper did not go in and Kentucky heads to the NCAA Championship.

This year’s championship will be about two teams who took the tough road to get to where they are now. Both were two of the lowest seeded teams in the Elite Eight along with the 11th seed Dayton Flyers. But they toughened up and played superb team basketball that made them outperform and exceed expectations this year. For sure, one team will have that Cinderella story all written up in the history books once the final game is finished Monday, April 7.
